EHS Supervisor

Lead the plant’s Safety, Health, and Environment (EHS) strategy to ensure legal and corporate compliance while preventing incidents and protecting the environment. Drive a proactive safety culture by influencing operational leaders to integrate risk management into business decisions and safeguarding organizational continuity.

Main responsibilities:

*   Design, implement, and manage the comprehensive SHE program aligned with plant objectives and legal requirements.
*   Identify, evaluate, and control operational risks, focusing on critical risks and high-potential events.
*   Lead investigations for serious accidents and high-potential incidents using formal root cause analysis methodologies.
*   Define and monitor control programs for hazardous energies (LOTO), working at heights, confined spaces, electrical safety, chemicals, and contractor management.
*   Ensure full compliance with Mexican legislation regarding occupational health, safety, environment, and civil protection, maintaining all necessary permits and records.
*   Coordinate internal, corporate, and legal audits, ensuring timely closure of findings and prevention of recurrences.
*   Promote a preventive culture through active floor presence, safety tours, behavioral observations, and visible leadership engagement.
*   Advise and influence managers and operational leaders to incorporate SHE criteria into projects, process changes, and maintenance decisions.
*   Lead, develop, and evaluate the SHE team, ensuring technical competency and effective coverage of plant needs.
*   Establish and monitor leading and lagging SHE indicators, analyzing trends to propose data-driven improvement plans.
*   Coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities, including drills, brigades, and crisis communication.
*   Manage industrial hygiene and occupational health programs in coordination with Medical Services, including exposure monitoring and ergonomics.
*   Oversee environmental management aspects such as waste, emissions, discharges, and impact prevention.
*   Ensure the proper selection, availability, use, and maintenance of personal protective equipment and engineering controls.
*   Plan and control the department budget, resources, suppliers, and specialized services.
*   Design and execute the annual SHE training plan for employees, contractors, and leaders, evaluating its effectiveness.

Qualifications:

*   Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Environmental, Chemical, Safety, or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in industrial safety, occupational health, and environment within complex manufacturing industries.
- 5+ years of experience leading and developing SHE teams.
- 6+ years of proven experience investigating serious accidents, high-potential incidents, or major emergencies.
- 5+ years of experience in legal compliance, auditing, and knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
- Intermediate English proficiency (written and spoken).
- In-depth knowledge of Mexican legislation (STPS, SEMARNAT, Civil Protection) and risk assessment methodologies.

*   Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environment, Risk Management, or Administration.
- Advanced English proficiency for corporate interaction and technical documentation.
- Specialized certifications in SHE, auditing, or risk management.
